Eric & I went to the Mariners Game for my birthday and we were lucky enough to catch Griffey while he was in town. It was a really great game and a lot of fun. Griffey plays in Right Field now so I got a lot of pictures. I even caught a picture of his home run swing, his diving catch, and him replacing the huge divot that he made. It was fun to see him again.

Rebecca's BBQ
Eric & I held a BBQ at our house on Saturday. My cousin Rebecca was back in town for a couple days and everyone wanted to see her before she had to leave again. She just finished her first year at Stanford Medical School, and for the summer she is heading to La Paz, Bolivia to do volunteer work. For all you family members who haven't checked it out she also has a website. It is in my links in the right hand margin. It was so nice to get to see her before she headed out. Our family is very proud of her wish her well on her and next great adventure. Here are some more pictures from the BBQ.

Father's Day
We headed to over to Vashon to my parents house for Father's Day and had a BBQ. Here are some pictures of the game that we bought Dean. It is kind of like Horse Shoes. As you can see Dean didn't get a whole lot of playing time.

The Catch
Well, in case you were wondering. Yes, that was me who caught Richie Sexson's foul ball Monday night at the Mariners game. I had so many phone calls and emails that I thought I would post the information on the website. Here is the play by play:
My Mom and I went to the game Monday and sat in our usual seats. If you didn't already know, we co-own season tickets. They are the first two seats in foul territory next to the right field foul pole. Section 110, Row 23, Seats 1 & 2. Come find us if you are ever at the game. We used to have tickets to all of the weekend games, but due to lack of time (because both my brother and I are playing ball all summer) we downgraded to a sixteen game plan. Usually I bring my glove to the game, but I forgot this time. I was working over on Vashon and forgot to stick it in my truck in the morning.
The first pitch of the game Ichiro hit a home run to center field and an older guy made a back hand catch over the fence and snow-coned the ball. That same inning Richie Sexson hit a towering ball down the right field line. My Mom and I were both on our feet staring up at it. Neither of us though it would make it far enough to get to us. It came down right between my Mom and I and I barehanded it. It stung my hand a for a little bit, but didn't really hurt. My mom did get it on the finger, and she said it hurt a little bit. But, I think she was more hurt by the fact that she didn't catch the ball. She claims that I stole it from her. I had it on DVR at home and reviewed the play and I still say that it was right in between both of us.
It was pretty cool though. Right after I caught it both our phones were ringing off the hook. I am glad so many people are still watching the M's. They showed the play a couple times on the TV. And I was wearing my Western sweatshirt so they made a comment about that.
A couple innings later a Fox Sports Net reporter came and found me. She asked me if I would go on Live to tell say why catch was better than the Ichiro home run ball catch. So they interviewed my on Live TV from the outfield stands. The guy who caught the home run, said he should win because his counted for 1 run when mine did not. So I said that I should win because I caught mine barehanded and I also stole it from my Mom. The reported that was interviewing us said she thought I should win because I stole it from my Mom. Dave Sims voted for the Ichiro Home Run guy because he caught it on the back hand. And Mike Blowers voted for me because I caught it barehanded and my celebration was much better. Oh, did I mention that after I caught the ball that I jumped up a down and was screaming. Yeah, I'm a dork. I know. So they gave me the catch of the night. On Tuesday I also received a number of calls because they showed the catch again on Sportscenter, mentioned it in Tuesday's Mariners game, and on the news.
I have the video saved on my DVR. I took my digital camera and took a video of the TV. It is not great quality, but you can view the catch. So now you all know. It was a fun night and the Mariners came back to win it. Sorry Mom.
