Mama

This was such a horrible week. Jacob had a horrible time with teething. He is already up to 5 teeth and more are coming. His top front teeth had a really rough time. His gums were really red. Then he got a fever which at it's worst got to 103. He threw up a few times. And of course he was super fussy. After three days of that and not getting much sleep, he started to get better. Those front teeth still haven't made it all the way in so I am sure there is more fun to follow. He had been doing so well with the teething so far that I was really hoping it would be bad like Tom. I guess I was wrong. Tom was even worse, but I think that is because we know how to manage it better now.

With such a horrible week there was one thing that brightened it up. Jacob decided to start saying Mama. He says it all the time now. So cute.

My Gym

We were so lucky to get invited to Isabella's Birthday party at My Gym. Tom had such a great time playing with all the kids, doing the activities and playing on the gym equipment. And all the kids got to sign up for a future class for free. So we started going to My Gym and Tom loves it so much. It is a great way to get his energy out. It also is great to teach him some of those things that he is a little clumsy with like climbing ladder and stuff like that. He is so big for his age you can see the coaches struggle a little to carry his weight when spotting him compared to the other kids. So glad that we were introduced to this place. Especially since it is tough to get outside in the winter.

7 Months Old

Jacob is 7 months old today. Can you pick him out of the lineup?

He is the second from the left. (Dani, Jacob, Eric, Tom)

He had his first Christmas and New Years.

Jacob is growing fast. Feels like faster than Tom did, but I am sure it is just because I have less time to stop and savor the moments. Life is insanely busy. The boys certainly are  keeping us on our toes. It is a balance of Jacob wanting to be like his big brother wanting to sit up or crawl around and see what is going on with all of brothers toys. And Tom not sure if he wants to share his toys and play with Jacob or not. There are moments when Tom gives us a glimpse of playing adorable little games with him. And then he will turn around and hit him or say don't touch that baby. I don't like that. I have been bringing out sit up kind of toys for Jacob that Tom hasn't see in a long time because they have sat in a corner unused. But all of a sudden Tom has wanted to play with them and has become very possessive. So we are constantly working on sharing. We tell Tom he can play with Jacob's toys and also share his toys with his brother. Some times it works. But you can tell that Jacob wants to be everywhere his brother is and wants to be involved. He gets so wiggly that it is hard to hold him.

He is also really trying to crawl so hard. He just screams because he is frustrated. He can get his stomach up for a little while and does a rocking motion and the plops down on his face. And I think it almost time to retire the Johnny Jump Up because his bottom is coming pretty close to the ground. I remember this point with Tom where he got sick of being confined which is bad news for me. At least the house is already baby proofed.

He is also very interactive these days. He gets super excited at seeing people he recognizes, the cats and even his favorite toys. He is babbling a lot and occasionally a ma ma noise comes out but who knows what he is saying. 

Good thing is that although the we are supper busy during the day Jacob is starting to fall into more of a routine. Just like Tom, when the solid food started he started to sleep through the night. And just this week he is getting a little better at napping in a normal pattern.

Jacob has been loving all the new foods he has been trying. Like his brother he started with zucchini. And then he had green beans, broccoli, kale, carrots and squash. It is nice to be cleaning out the freezer with all the stuff from the garden I froze for him. He doesn't really seem to care what the food is. He just wants you to shovel it in there faster. He has been grabbing the spoon for quite a while now and it is hard to get the food in his mouth with him being so grabby. I even give him his own spoon, but that only works sometimes. So I started giving him little baby finger food cereal. When I drop it on the tray he goes berserk trying to get it.

New Years

We were able to make it over to our property for new years this year. And we drove in the new truck. Tom had a fun time in the snow. Although it was tough convincing him to keep the gloves on when it was about 15 degrees. We had a bonfire, sledding and fireworks. Tom like playing with the Wheeler kids. He even got to ride in their little snow machine. And he also went in the hot tub for the first time. He was a little scared at first but then liked it.
