Jake has been working hard a jump roping for a while now. They held a jump rope competition today at the school assembly. This wasn't a competition of jumps in a row or anything like that. It was somewhat of a creative performance. He was pretty excited about it. Of course they chose the song cheese burger in paradise as the song they wanted perform to. It has the word cheese in it. They did great as did all the other groups as well.

Building a Fort
Jake and Lucas have been collecting drift wood and building a fort down by the beach. They convinced Eric to go down there and bring them some more materials.

Easter Egg Hunt
Jake and Lucas did the easter egg hunt together this year. Eric took them while Tommy and I were at a baseball tournament. Looks like they scored some good stuff.

WWU Hall of Fame Weekend
Yesterday me and my 1998 NAIA Championship Softball team were inducted into the Western Washington University Hall of Fame. It has been such a long time since this happened, but seeing everyone really brought the memories back. I have a few memories of things that happened on the playing field, especially beating the 4 time returning champs Oklahoma City. If you want to look back at the tournament here is a link to it.
But the things I really remember have nothing to do with softball. Driving in the van singing along to the radio into a spoon, being forced to stay in the hotel room and watching the 5th element 5 times, going to the sizzler again even though no one wanted to, stretching your $10 food money as far as it could go by buying a bag of bagels and a jar of peanut butter, early morning weight training hoping not to destroy your shins on the box jump, winter practice in gym and sliding on the gym floor (which will melt your sweats), sliding practice out in the puddles and coming out with a worm in your hair, selling gold cards outside of Haggen to raise money for your plane ticket, working every football, volleyball and basketball game because we didn't already have enough to do already (yeah right), icing in the training room (hope it's not a Bertha), taking hitting charts on the other teams BBJ's and LBJ's, locker room shenanigans including a diss competition with the basketball team, dressing up for casual Friday in spandex from value village and then having to run circles around the football team (casual Fridays was cancelled after the pizza hut hat was the last straw, sorry ladies 🙂 ), team hangouts and playing ninja commando, getting pooped on by a seagull, karaoke party, kidnapping the seniors, decorating someone's car in the middle of the night with baloney, croutons and honey on their windshield so they would find it frozen on their way to weight training, being bored from being at the airport 10 hours early for our flight and coming up with a scavenger hunt, sneaking out of the hotel in the team vans in Oklahoma after winning the National Championship and burying a time capsule at the field included someone's pile of Ibuprofen, a butt hand batting glove, a fortune cookie fortune and whatever else we could find (thanks Ian for sneaking us out) and really just memories of hanging out with an amazing group of ladies. I feel so luck to have gotten to have these shared experiences with the ladies and to be their teammates and friends. It was great to be honored, but to have any excuse to get together with these ladies and relive the old memories and make new ones is a win in my book.

Clamming at Ocean Shores
2 days of razor clamming out at the coast. Everyone got their limit. Had fun. Little tired after cleaning 180 clams. But we had a good time.
