The boys got dressed up in their costumes for school. And we took a picture with all the kids at the bus stop. They both had an exciting day of Halloween fun at school.
After School we took the boys up town to go trick or treating. They had a great time seeing all the costumes and decorated stores. And of course getting treats.
We went to go play some spooky shoes. It was a miniature horseshoe costume doubles tournament. It was raining so much that I didn't take many pictures. The boys didn't seems to mind the rain too much until it soaked through their overalls. Even with the rain it took several hours. We had some good food and fun visiting with people before we lost and went home.
I have been working on letters with Jake more. He has been interested in it quite a bit as he hears me and Tom working on it. I am still trying to get him to remember the letters of his name all by himself. With some prompting he can remember. He is pretty nervous about the writing of the letters. So I wrote the alphabet on the chalk board so he could just copy the letters below. And after a couple tries he was able to write his name!!!
Soccer season is over. The boys had a great time and both improved quite a bit.
Jake did the instruction league this year. They only do practices. It is very basic stuff. He started the first practice not quite sure how to kick, doing this sort of kick hop thing. He ended the season looking like a pro. He had a great time and I think he really enjoyed being on a team without Tommy and getting to do his own thing.
Tommy was in the scrimmage league this year. They take all the players that show up on game day and they split up into teams and do small sized scrimmages. It was a great way to get the idea of the flow of the game. Tommy was a little unsure how the competitive side of soccer went because he was in instructional league last year. So the first practice where there was some sort of defense Tommy was more like full field tackling people. It took some explaining, but he got the hang of it. He really does like playing defense. He didn't seem to have too much interest in trying to score goals because he was too worried to leave his goal undefended. But he did end up scoring a couple goals. He had a great season.
