New Years at the Property

We made it out to the property again this year. I felt like garbage most of the trip, but the boys had fun. Eric bought a lot of fireworks to share with all the families so there were lots of fireworks. The boys did the sledding hill a little bit. Jake was a little frustrated by all the snow. I think mostly because he didn't want to wear the gloves or the boots. So he spent a little less time out in the snow. It is great to get out in the woods away from everything for a while.

Tommy Goes to Work

Eric had been wanting to take Tommy to his job site for a while. Tom is so into anything with wheels and that moves right now. So Eric had been bringing home videos on his phone of work trucks and machinery for Tom to watch. A good day came up that Eric didn't have to work that he could take Tom down there to check things out. I think you can tell by the pictures that he loved it.

Playing with Presents

The days following Christmas have to still be some of the favorite days of the year. These days are filled with so much excitement for the kids as the check out everything that they were given. Our boys were so excited to check out how all the new toys worked.

Christmas

It was a good Christmas this year. The boys good and went to be really easily. We had been at the Robert's on the afternoon of Christmas Eve so they were somewhat worn out. After everyone got to bed Santa's elves had a lot of work to do. We had brought their Santa gifts over the week before because they were kind of large. But they still needed to be put together. Tom got a hot wheels track with a garage. It had at least 50 parts. And Jake got a work bench that required some serious elbow grease to get put together because the screws had to be screwed into solid plastic and I only had screw drivers. After a couple hours I made it to bed. But it was worth it to see how excited they  were to see them already put together.I least I had the really big Santa cookie Tom made that he left by the fireplace to keep me going. The boys did really well with the presents this year. Tom did a pretty good job of opening his own and Jake did a little ripping open too. They barely got to look at any of them on Christmas day though because we had people coming over and they got so much stuff the living room was packed. So we had to take it out to the car. And of course it didn't all fit so we ended up having to make another trip back over to get the race track.

And the boys were really excited to give Grandma and Grandpa their ornament that makes noise when you press it. All of the grandparents got one and mommy and daddy too. Here is what it sounded like.

Then we put the boys down for their nap and started getting ready for Christmas dinner. It was a small gather as far as our family goes. But it was good to see everyone. Jake and Jett had a great time. They are only a couple weeks apart in age, They were sitting on my lap next to each other for a little bit and then Jett gave Jake a couple hugs. It was so cute. I don't think Jake really knew what was going on. He doesn't get a whole lot of hugs from rowdy brother Tom. And after dinner there was impromptu convert put on by the kids and Grandpa Ted. It was very precious.

Christmas Eve Presents

On Christmas Eve we let the boys open a couple presents we got from friends before we packed up the car with everything. Jake got a cute little truck that talked and you could fill up at the gas tank which he loved playing with. He was a little jealous when he saw Tom's big jeep but he got over it.

First 100 Words

Just like when Tom went to his 18 month appointment, at Jake's appointment they asked how many words he know. Well, I have counted and he knows his first 100 words. The weird thing about Jake is that he already says some three word phrases.

Neighbor's Christmas Party

We went next door to the neighbor's ugly sweater Christmas party again this year. They boys ran around for a little while and then we put them down to sleep and brought the monitor over so we could stay up and have some fun. I thought Eric's Grinch shirt was very appropriate for him :)

Vising Santa

We went to go get out Santa picture at the The Common's in Federal Way. We tried to make it there early and there were only a couple people in line. We had been talking with Tom a lot about Santa and what he should do so that he wouldn't be scared. So he walked right up and said hi. Jake knows how to say Santa, but he was still a little scared when I set him on his lap. But we were able to get him to smile. The hard part was trying to get them to smile at the same time. The actual Santa pic was OK. Eric was a bad boy and took some pictures and he got them both smiling, but the photos on his phone are pretty low quality. They had fun though and were very excited to get a candy cane. They also enjoyed the mall. We only walked through a little. But they got to see a little drone helicopter flying around. The guy was flying right around them and getting them all excited. Jake loved being able to just run. And he is pretty fast now. He was running down the mall and I had to walk pretty fast to keep up with him. And of course they loved checking out the coin operated toys, although they were all out of order so the kids climbed in them and we just shook them around a bit.

18 Months Old

Jake is 18 Months Old today!

He is such a busy little boy. He is running around trying to keep up with brother. And he is also starting to get a personality of his own. He likes music, drawing, hammering on the tools, and playing legos. He loves to look at books about animals and will make all the sounds. He says lots of words right now. Or at least the are the toddler version of words.

He is very opinionated and likes to tell you what he wants. Oh boy we are headed to the terrible two's again. At meals he likes to complain and point because he thinks everyone else at the table has something he doesn't. He is our little porker. In the right mood he can eat 3 eggs for breakfast.

He loves outside time and keeps going to the door and letting us know he wants to go out. Too bad it has been dark and horrible weather lately. He loves putting on his boots and walking through puddles. He loves playing in the sand box. One of Jake's favorite things right now is playing with his Jessi kitty. She is tolerating him. He has only been scratched ones. He loves to cuddle with her and make meowing noises.

Jake and Tom have kept us so busy the last 6 months that I hadn't even really been able to post pictures. So I scrambled and got all of them up to date. So to see what they have really been up to you'll have to look back and see.

Boy's Christmas Tree

I saw these felt Christmas Tree's online and I decided to make one. Wasn't super tough. I did the tree all in one night and then work on the ornaments a little bit at a time. Jake really loved it. And if Tom didn't have the Christmas train to play with I am sure he would be more interested. Although when I told him there was new ornaments he would get excited. And of course all of Tom's light had to be in lines because that is just his personality. When I get time I have enough green felt to make a second tree so they can each have one. And I still have more felt for ornaments. I got some cool stuff on Amazon that is a still felt sheet with a sticky back. So all you have to do is cut and peel. And a little piece of elastic on the back.

Play Time

Boys playing around. It will be a long winter. So thankful that we have a big play room to let them go crazy in.

Potty Acrobatics

We are still having a heck of a time with Tom and potty training. The poo poo truck only worked for a little while. Now it is just sitting there waiting for him to go in the potty again. And for some reason he has started doing weird things on the potty now. Here he is after I told him to try and push the poo poo out. He must have learned this from Eric.

Rocking Out to Christmas Songs

The boys and I put on our Santa Hats and Rocked out to Christmas Songs for a while. Got way to get some of that squirley energy out that they have from the excitement of Christmas.

Puddle Stomping

Jake looking around for some puddles to stomp in.

Eric's 50th Birthday

Eric turned 50 today. He insisted that he did not want any kind of party and did not want a cake either. So we made him his favorite dinner enchiladas and baked him some chocolate chip cookies. And I had the boys draw a card for daddy. The pictures themselves didn't look like much. But I asked Tom if he could write his name on the back. And to my surprise he could! We didn't know he could do that. And it just so happens I bought Eric a laminater for his present since he loves to laminate things. And now Tom's first drawn name is laminated.

Decorating for Christmas

We got the tree up and did some decorating. Of course for Tom the most important part was the Christmas Train. I don't know if he remembers last Christmas. But he was super excited. And this year he could actually run the remote and do a little help with getting the cars set-up. Jake thinks the ornaments are great fun. I think I am probably missing a few, but that is why I put the less important ones on the bottom. Tom really liked helping set up the little village and put out all the figures on the piano. And I have a group of toys that are for them to play with. Jake has latched on to this little Santa that is a troll doll that used to be mine when I was a kid. He carries it around with him. And he even says Santa.

O Christmas Tree

We braved the cold weather and went out and got our Christmas Tree. The boys enjoyed the little adventure. Although Tom wasn't too happy when he met his first blackberry bush. I think the most popular thing was the cart they gave us to pull the tree in. Thankfully it didn't take long because it was really cold.

Thanksgiving

Went to Grandma & Grandpa's house for Thanksgiving. It was a small group for our family. But it so reminded me of my childhood. A room full of cousins playing together and having fun. It was good to see family. The boys had a great time. And they crashed the minute we hit the car.

Crazy Turkey

Tom was so excited about decorating for Halloween. He was pretty sad when I took it down. So we made some Thanksgiving decorations. We made hand turkeys and also maple leaf rubbings. The certainly weren't professionally done, but they boys really liked putting them up and looking at them. Tom also brought home a construction paper turkey from school that he really loved too. I am sure they will go bonkers when they see all the Christmas decorations.

Cousin Fun

The boys were so lucky to have their cousin Dakota come visit from Alaska. Him and Tom had so much fun. I think they looked at almost every toy in the play room. I hope they can spend more time together in the future because they had some much fun.

Break Dancing

When we are bored at home we sometimes turn on Pandora and have a dance party. The boys love it. Mostly because I pick them up and swing them around. Which is exhausting because they are huge. But they also do some of their own dancing too. Tom has been doing a dance and gymnastics class through his preschool once a week. I have found him trying to do planking type stuff and other tricks. I think he his testing out his new skills here. Kind of looks like his own version of break dancing.

Little Snow Flurry

Woke up this morning to a little snow flurry. Tom was excited to see it but it was pretty wet snow so he didn't like it touching him. Jake kind of liked touching it though. It only lasted maybe 15 minutes. But it was exciting while it lasted.

Truck Time

Tom is figuring out his new poo poo truck. I am so glad we got a waterproof one because he does love putting boots on and running stuff through the puddles. He has quite figured out how to turn the truck but that's OK.
