Jake had his Kindergarten Open House tonight. It seemed a bit like old news now. But Jake was excited to ride the bus. And he got to meet a couple teachers and check out the toys in one of the class rooms. He seems like he is very ready to go, even though he will be one of the younger kids in his class. He keeps mentioning to me that everyone at preschool seems so young. Except for his beloved Ava of course. He told me he just had to be in Ava's class because she was his girlfriend forever. I wasn't really sure how to respond to that :)

Island Adventures with Dakota
Nancy, Pam and Dakota picked up Tom to go on an adventure around the island. Seems like they had fun. And after Jake got out from school they picked him up as well. The boys will be sad to see Dakota go home.

Great Wolf Lodge
Nancy and Dakota invited us to visit the Great Wolf Lodge with them. They boys and I had never been. They loved it. There was of course a lot to do. I wasn't sure if they would want to do the water slide or not, but both of them tried it and loved it. They were not a big fan of the huge bucket of water the dumped off the top of the tower though. They also got to do mini golf which was the cheapest of the other things they had to offer:) They also had a blast in their room doing video games, toys, wrestling and silly boy stuff. And they had a sleepover in the room together in their bunk beds.

Downtown Tacoma
Nancy and Dakota made it into town from Alaska. We were supposed to meet the at the wrestling state tournament. The boys and I went there to get tickets and went in. But the place was so crowed because they didn't pull out the lower bleachers. So there were no seats anywhere. And people were standing 3 deep in the aisles. So we got a refund. Instead we went and hung out at the Tacoma waterfront. We walked around, took the light rail and found an arcade. Then we went to Pam and Paul's for dinner. The boys watched moves and played games on the tablet while we sat and talked. Of course, after tell the boys 20 times to be careful on the stairs I was the one who ended up falling down them.

Valentine's Day
It was a pretty mellow Valentine's Day. The boys made it back to school in time for their parties. And we did have valentines at our house for them to prep. But it was pretty minimal effort for us. But everyone was pretty worn out with snowmageddon.

Big Snowflakes

Sledding Weekend
Rather than wait around for the power to come back on, and staying cooped up in our tiny house waiting for the weather to improve we decided to go to my parent's house for the weekend. The boys had a blast on the sled hill. And tonight the snow started to hit again. Oh boy, we already have a few more inches added on. No school tomorrow as well. And weather report says more to come.

Snow Man Factory
School let out at noon. The first flakes started coming right as we stepped out of the school. By the time I picked up both kids and got home we already had about an inch. Jake has been asking me to make a snowman but the snow wasn't right earlier this week. This snow was so good. It was super easy to make snowballs fast. By late afternoon there was 2 inches and what seemed like 4 inches in the shade where it never melted from earlier in the week.I briefly showed him how to make a ball and then roll it. Then our yard turned into a snowman factory. The boys had a blast rolling balls around, and we helped assemble them. We are already at about 3 inches now. Still snowing. We've stocked up on food and gas.

Snow Day
We had 3 inches in the lawn and 5 inches in the snow drifts. We waited and waited for the wind to calm down today. It was really tearing through our yard as we are at the very top of Maury. It never stopped. The birds looked like they were going to get blown off the feeder. So we just went out anyway. It was cold and windy, but the boys got their time out in the snow. Hoping there will be less wind in the morning as I am not a big fan of snow blowing up in my face.
