Enjoying the Commute

I think Eric is sort of enjoying his new commute. Or at least for now. Not a bad way to get your morning started.

I Love You Grandpa

Grandpa needed a little pick-me-up today so the boys sent him a message.

What the Wallaby

Eric texted me a video that I got when I woke up this morning. I wasn't sure what I was seeing. So I asked him when he got home. Turns out at 5 AM there happened to be a wallaby running down the road. I guess an islander owns one and it occasionally breaks loose.

Graduation Parties

We got invited to go to 3 different graduation parties this year. This boys were a little all over the place, so it was a little exhausting for mom and dad. But it was a good times and great celebrations. So excited Garrett, Aileen, Logan & Riley all this year's graduates and their new adventures in life.

Hot Shower for My Birthday

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Eric bought a new facet for the shower so it no longer leaks. So I got a nice hot shower this morning.

Showering is a Luxury

Got to take my first shower inside the camper instead of outside! The hot water ran out on me because the facet is leaking pretty bad and half the water was just going down the drain. But still better than showering outside in when it is 45 degrees out at 6 in the morning. The little things to appreciate in life :)

Lightening Storm

Sleeping in a 5th Wheel can be interesting at times. Not always my favorite. We were able to get our king bed squeezed in there thank goodness. But it is like crawling in from the end of the bed every night. There is no walking room. So when you lay in bed you are right next to the window. And we had to take the shades off because we couldn't fit the bed in with them on. Eric always likes to have black out blinds on the windows. But he has had to get used to having open windows. At times annoying, but there are nights when it is kind of cool to have a clear view of the stars, moon and tonight a lightening storm. I was lying in bed and it looked like the bolts were firing down right out the window. I am sure they were miles away, but it didn't feel like it.

Father's Day

Had a pretty quiet Father's Day this year. Eric did not want to do anything, but my mom and I wanted to go up to grandma's and grandpa's and work on the yard. We ended up spending a good chunk up the day mowing, weed wacking and pulling weeds. I think Eric was actually enjoying himself since we no longer have a yard. We made dad a nice dinner and then the boys gave him the father's day gifts they made a school which they were super excited about.

Jake Counting

Jake has been learning the names of the numbers. Not super consistent on the order though :)

Yee-Haw

Not sure where Jake got the idea, but all of a sudden he likes to get rides from people. I thought maybe he just wanted mommy and daddy to give him rides around the room. But I was pretty surprised when he asked Tommy to give him rides. Then he just started climbing on top of people without asking. I would hear Tommy crying and Jake was trying to climb on him while he was playing with his toys.So we had to have a discussion about asking people before touching them or climbing on them :)

Hello Hummingbirds

We put out our hummingbird feeders in hopes we would find new little friends. It took a while but we did get a couple of them to go to our feeders occasionally. It's nice to make new friends. Hopefully they keep visiting us.

Ruston Waterfront Water Park

We were on our way back to Pt. Defiance to head home and just missed the ferry. I convinced Eric that we should go check out the new waterfront at Ruston rather than sitting on the ferry dock for an hour. So we did a drive by and saw that they had a water park. So we stopped in and checked it out. It was a very pretty place to sit for a while since it looked right out over the water. Tommy loved the water park. Jake was a little unsure of the water since it shot out like a fountain. But I think everyone had a better time than sitting in a ferry line.

Fireworks Night at the Mariners

Tommy loves his Mariners. And the kettle corn of course. And to top it all off he got to see a huge fireworks show at the end. Tommy has gotten so lucky with cool Mariners games and even though we got home super late he had an amazing time. One he won't forget.

Happy 2nd Birthday Jake

My little boy Jake turned 2 today. This year went by so fast I don't think I have realized what a big boy he was. He seems like he has grown up twice as fast as Tommy did. Probably because he is always trying to catch up with Tom. His personality shines through more each day. He talks so much for a 2 year old I almost forget sometimes that he is only 2. He is still my cuddly little baby though. He still asks me to kiss his little boo boos and he gives the worlds best hugs.

Settling In

We have been working to get settled in to our new temporary home. I even put my annuals out where we could appreciate them a bit.

Low Tide Festival at Point Robinson

We knew that we weren't going to be able to have a big birthday for Jake right after moving. But they were having a low tide festival at Point Robinson because of the extreme low tide. So we decided that would be a fun birthday for Jake. So we packed up a cooler and stuff for sandwiches and and cupcakes. The boys had a great time. There were booths with cool things to look at like shells and stuffed animals. They also had the lighthouse open and we got to take a tour all the way to the top. It was really cool to see the old building and the light up close. And it was fun, to get to see the beach from up there.

Then we went and looked in all the tide pools. There aren't as many big rocks as KVI has to look under, but it was cool to see it out that far because you don't see it very often. There was a tide pool with eel grass that had lots of critters in it. There were even people there to help point out the things they found. We saw some huge crabs that if I had a crabbing license I was tempted to take them home.

They also had a huge tribal canoe that was rowed over from the Puyallup tribe. It was super cool to see it up close.I was surprised to see how large it was. It was also amazing to see the point. You can't tell when it is covered up with water, but the point drops off a lot when you walk on the beach but at the water line at extreme low tide it drops off so fast you can't even see the bottom. It was amazing. It was an amazing and really hot day and I am glad the boys got to have a fun day.

Low Tide at KVI

Even though we were already going to the Low Tide Festival at Point Robinson tomorrow for Jake's birthday, I couldn't resist taking the boys to KVI at low tide today. It was really a low tide and such a nice day. It totally reminded me of going there at low tide when I was a kid. We went all the way to the end of the sand spit, and it was really far out there. The boys thought that was pretty cool. But looking under the big rocks was so cool. We found so many interesting things that I recognized from all the times I saw them growing up. I vaguely remembered some of the names from the class field trips. It was so exciting to get to show these things to the boys and the thought that they get to do all the fun things that I got to do as a kid living on an island. It puts the hassle of moving and living in a 5th wheel in perspective of our long term goal.

Playing at the Park

Trying to give the boys a chance to get outside as much as possible. So I took them down to Dockton Park to run around.
