At the boys school the sometimes have special days. This week was school spirit week. They got to dress up and do fun things all week. Pajama day is always a favorite. And of course costume day. They picked Superman and Batman. And they had crazy hair day again. I spray painted their hair again. Tom loves it. Jake tolerated it.
Eric and Tom went to the State Tournament for a while Saturday morning and then they came home and Jake and I went back and watched too. Of course they only have patience for a few matches. But now Tom says "That is where they wrestle!" every time we drive past the Tacoma Dome.
The boys have been playing together more lately. Even wanting to be by each other at times. Glimpses of them getting along instead of arguing of who's toy is who's.
I thought doing handmade Valentine's together would be really fun this year. I must admit, going from 15 kids to 28 kids in the class was a bit overwhelming. Tom liked doing the stamping and stickers. But it was hard to keep him on track to do that many. He was very excited to write his name on them all. Jake did a little bit of stickers on his. But as I ran out of time and had to do 16 for his class in addition to Tom's they didn't even turn out picture worthy. But since they are 1 and 2 year olds, I am sure they won't notice. In the end Tom's turned out great. The boys loved getting some many little treats from all the kids in the class.
For Valentine's Day we decided to get out of the house and go on an adventure. For Christmas the boys got a membership to the Seattle Aquarium. So we decided it would be a good day to try it out. They boys had a good time looking at all the fish. Tom was still a little scared of the water after getting scared by a wave at the ocean. On a couple of exhibits where they were simulated waves Tom did not want to get anywhere near them. He really enjoyed watching the seals and otters at feeding time though. After we saw all the fish we walked down the pier to find lunch. We stopped for fish and chips and chowder. For some reason Jake was being so fussy. He would not stop fussing and complaining and couldn't figure out why. Finally I realized that Jake thought the bread bowl of clam chowder in the middle of the table was all his, and did not like people sharing it with him. We had bought him fish and chips and didn't think he would even want chowder. But sure enough, every single time someone reached toward the chowder he would loose. I wasn't able to get any till I distracted him with ice cream. And forget about coming trying to sneak away some of the ice cream. Jake has always been very protective of his food as Tom used to help himself to Jake's snack before he could really do anything about it. But this was taking it to a whole new level. We have now learned that if we go out to eat to make sure that whatever is set on the table in front of Jake is all Jake's own food or he is going to claim it for his own.
Spring is coming! The snowdrops have arrived! The whole last growing season I have been marking plants to make sure I don't miss any, digging them up at the appropriate time, splitting them to put some in a pot and some back in the garden. The snowdrops have definitely been on the list of plants to pot up to take with us when we decide to move.
The boys love the Jimmy Fallon Star Wars song. Since we got them some Star Wars Christmas presents we thought it would be a good way to introduce them to Star Wars. They love it. They request it all the time. At one point they were watching it multiple times a day. So far I think they only know the song and recognize the droids. But it is start.
