Snow Much Fun

We got a little bit a snow so everyone went outside to have some fun. We even found some tracks in the snow. We followed them back into the woods. We are pretty sure we found out where the bunnies we have been seeing are hiding out. And a little bit of dark was not going to stop the Bingham boys from sledding.

Subway with Mom

Jake and I stopped at Subway on our way to his foot doctor appointment. They let us know that his foot is looking good and that we only needed to come back if we felt like he was having problems. It has been a long 4 years, but worth all the effort.

Olympics

We have moved on from just attempting ice skating to some form of cross country skiing. They came up with this one all on their own :) They had to come up with a new idea after I told them they had to take a break from ice skating when Tommy starting giving everyone scores and Jake was not happy with the results. Can you say COMPETITIVE :) Then they saw some of the downhill and snowboarding and saw some of the crashes and decided they would try to do some crashes of their own as well.

Kasen's Birthday Party

We went to Kasen's birthday party at the movie theater. Cars 3 was playing so all the kids were pretty captivated. And it turned into a kids dance party at the end. They had a great time.

I Can Do it Too

Jake I were hanging out this morning and he wanted to try and make some of the magnet designs on the instructions that Tommy has been trying. We made a robot guy together and he even made a wheel type thing by himself. He was pretty proud of his work.

Wrestling State Tournament

Eric went solo to the Wrestling state tournament on Friday, and then took just Tommy for a little bit on Saturday. We had a busy weekend so not everyone went this year. But it is a tradition that Eric likes to keep so he made a showing with Tom.

Dentist Day

The boys went to the dentist today. They behaved so well and seem super motivated to get their teeth cleaned now. Probably because Jake got a cavity in August that we had to do a bunch of extra appointments. Fortunately he just got it painted with silver to keep it dormant instead of having to put him under and everything. So there has been a lot of talk of sugar bugs in our house and brushing our teeth better instead of complaining it.

Valentine's Day

Since Tom has been really into beads lately, and he got a bunch of beads for Christmas, we decided to make presents with beads for Valentine's Day this year. We got a pack of the melty beads. Tom asked if we could make orcas. I googled it and all the patterns were for bigger things than we had and looked tough. So we decided on paw prints instead. Lana the Lynx paw prints. So I drew a pattern on the mat so tom could just follow the pattern. We made them in all different colors. He started out helping out with them and then gave up at about 25% of the way through the paw prints. 20 kids is a lot. Then we used our letter beads to put them on a little string with their name on it. We also made some hearts for teachers and grandparents and such. Then Jake made little bracelets for his class with their names on it. He is really into wearing his bead bracelets right now. He has one on pretty much every day. It was fun but I think we are beaded out for a while.

Morning Stuffie Party & Hot Chocolate Store

Mom likes to sleep in on the weekends, and dad is a morning person. So I don't find out what happens in the mornings until I see the pictures. This morning dad and Tom had a stuffie party and a trip to the hot chocolate store. I guess Tom wanted to take a picture of all the treats they have to offer.

Mini Golf at the Library

They had set-up mini golf at the library. So we though we would try it out. It turns out that it was a little harder than we thought. The greens were very fast so the ball was going all over the place. It would probably be easier for the kids to start on a more defined course with sides on it so the ball didn't fly all around. Jake lost interest pretty fast. Tom was kind of interested in it though, but it required a lot of patience and we ended up just picking up the ball most of the time as we didn't want to hold up all the people golfing. We will probably try again when they are a little bit older or at an easier course.

Ferry Plane & Bubbles

They boys had an eventful day together. They took a ferry ride and came home with a new plane and some bubbles. They they came home and tested everything out.

When Mom's Not Looking

Ever wonder what is going on when Mom is not looking. Well you find out when the guys pose for pictures in front of the fire they make with the brush burner. How big can we make this fire and how cool a picture can we get with our big fire. Boys will be boys.

Sight Words

Now that Tommy has joined the 100 Club his class is moving on to focusing on letters. So we were given some flash cards with sight words on them. English was not my best subject in school. So helping him learn it I am sure will be a challenge. I didn't even remember what the term sight words was. Apparently they are words that you are just supposed to memorize, not try to sound out. So we tried using the flash cards. I couldn't even get Tom to look at them, even to just tell me what letters he saw. He had pretty much no interest in it. I even told him I would give him a sticker for each one he got correct. That helped a little but it was still pretty rough and there was a lot of complaining and arguing about even trying to do it. So I decided to forget about the flash cards and write them on the chalk board instead. And on the chalk board I tried writing them in ways he could try to remember them easier like put "at" and "that" next to each other. And I put the "th" in a different color so he could see that there is the word "at" inside the word "that" to make it easier for him to remember. And each time he got one correct I would underline it in blue. And as I read him books and would come to a sight word in the book I would point to it on the board and see if he remembered it. He seemed to attempt a lot more when I used the board and did it while reading the books. He is still learning, and this does not come as natural to him as numbers. Why would it, the English language makes no sense. But he is now at least attempting to do it some of the time.

Crafty

The boys spent the morning being crafty with some of their Christmas presents. They built a bird house with dad. And then beaded some bracelets with mom. Tommy really enjoyed beaded in his art class at school. To him it is almost like building with legos or something. So I get him some beads for Christmas. And of course Jake got bored and had to take a break for a rock out session.

Weekend in the Woods

The boys have been spending a lot of their weekends in the woods. They love collecting sticks to put in the fire. We let Tom use the clippers. He loves clipping up sticks. I have been attacking the black berry bushes some more since all the nettles are dormant. It is a pretty cool time of year to hang out in our woods especially since there is so much moss out there. And the boys finally found a tree that they could kind of climb, at least a little way.

Double Trouble

I am not sure what they are up to here. But it look like trouble to me.
