This year Grandma Puz had her 99th Birthday. We went to her place for her birthday party. Can't wait for the big 100 next year.

Christmas
Eric and I went to the island for Christmas again this year. We opened presents at my parents house. We gave Lena a little gardening outfit since she had so much fun helping my plant pumpkins this year. She was wearing it around the house Christmas morning. Too cute. Then we went to my Aunt Barb & Uncle Bob's house for Christmas dinner. It was great to see everyone who came. There were about 30 of us there.

Anniversary Dinner
Eric and I went out for our Anniversary Dinner on Saturday in downtown Seattle. We went to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse because Eric really wanted a steak and it was near all the Christmas lights. We had never eaten there but had heard it was good. Eric made reservations online and had noted that it was our anniversary. When we showed up we were very surprised to see the with confetti hearts. Then our waiter asked us if we wanted a complimentary champagne toast. We told them we had to pass this time on the champagne toast, but we were very impressed. We had a great dinner and our waiter was amazing. He asked our name and called us by it every time he came to the table. Eric had an amazing t-bone steak. I had seafood. I wish that I could have eaten everything that was on the table but I had to skip the scallops because they were seared not cooked through as most scallops are. I did get to try a couple bites of Eric's steak that were fully cooked. I didn't get one of my own because I think it would be kind of a crime to spend that much money on a steak that is cooked well done. Then a dessert we had another surprise. They brought us an amazing free dessert. And I think because we didn't have the champagne toast they brought us an extra chocolate dessert. It was a great experience. Then we took a quick walk around the area to look at the Christmas lights. It was a great night. If you are looking to have dinner for a special occasion and want to get spoiled I highly recommend Ruth's Chris. And FYI they validate parking if you park at the adjoining Hyatt. Which we didn't know until we already parked somewhere else.

Lena's 4th Birthday
Eric, my parents and I went with Tony, Susan, Lena and Kai (Lena's cousin) to the Pacific Science Center for Lena's 4th birthday. It was a lot of fun. There were so many things for the kids to interact with. They had a great kids play area that we spent a lot of time in. And the kids loved playing with the interactive parts of the exhibits. A few things scared Lena though. She did not like the moving dinosaurs, sitting in the space pod and walking in the live butterfly room. Of all things to be scared of, I didn't think it would be butterflies. We stopped at the food court for lunch and then took a walk down to the space needle. Kai really liked watching the elevators go up and down. It was a great day. Glad to get to spend the day with my niece.

It's a Boy
Eric and I went to the 20 Week Ultrasound today. It went well. Everything looks good.
The baby is either going to be big or I am a week further along they they originally thought. I am guessing it's just big since my mom's smallest baby was 9 lbs 10 ounces. The kid was moving around quite a bit during the ultrasound. It was funny to see it move its' arm or leg on the screen and then be able to feel it at the same time. I just started to really feel it moving this week. And we did end up finding out the sex. I wanted to wait, but Eric really wanted to know. And I wasn't going to have him know and not me. He would just hold it over my head for months. So we found out and it's a BOY!

Halloween
Had a lot of fun handing out candy to the kids. We had our house decorated really nice for them. Eric was pretty sad because he had to work tonight and he missed it. So I took a bunch of pictures for him. Take the tour.

Halloween Tournament
So my softball team played in the Halloween Tournament again this year. We went as Bees this year. All except poor Brandon who found out right before we went to the fields that he had to be a flower. I was in charge of making the flower costume. I only had a week to make it. It turned out pretty good though. We had lots of fun (of course I was only watching). I didn't rain but there was a lot of mud.

Had fun at the property again this year for Labor Day. Tony, Susan & Lena were also there. Had fun hanging out at the river and throwing sticks for Bella. Here is a cute picture of Lena hanging out at Rich & Sena's.

Our Yard
Here are some pics of our yard throughout the season. We have filled in the back yard wall with more plants. We also added a new bed along the front fence line. It has flowers for all year long. Daffodils, Iris, Lilies, Dahlias, and Sunflowers.

New Green House
When we bought our house there was a little green house in the yard. We were so glad to have one, but after a couple years of using it we found some flaws. The glass panes were very thin. They did not insulate very well and some of them began to break. The benches were not supported correctly so with as much weight we were putting on them they were falling apart. And the size was smaller than what we needed. The height especially was a challenge because by the end of the growing season our pepper plants would hit the ceiling and then start to fall over.
So we decided to rebuild the greenhouse. We kept the foundation but widened it a little. There was already a raised bed in the back of the greenhouse and we also added one down the side that we widened. Eric used mostly wood that we already had or wood from the old green house. The glass we got for free after Eric search for a while on Craig's List. The sliding door is one we had lying around that Eric had gotten for free. For the smaller areas that needed to be closed in we had to buy some Plexiglas. We reused the benches and put in new supports. The rafters were built out of rebar which we have plenty of lying around. We did buy new roofing material because the old one had holes in it. All in all it did not cost that much money with all the reused materials. Eric did most of the work with some help from neighbor Brian.
It is amazing how much warmer the greenhouse is now. In the spring we did have grow lights and a heater that is on a thermostat to make sure none of the plants got too cold since it is a little colder in our yard, especially since there is so much shade. Usually I will start about 5 seeds per type of tomato plant and 3 will come up. This year all five came up. I had so many plants I didn't know what to do. I gave them away to people I knew. When I still had some left I put them out on the road with a sign that said free. I also ended up with so many more pepper plants. We kept most of them because we had the room in the greenhouse with it being so much bigger. It held about 100 pepper plants between the raised beds and large pots.

Dinner with the Roberts
Eric and I had the Roberts over for dinner at our house. Pat & Tanya had been to our house before, but this was a first time for Jack and Maryann. We had a great time showing them the garden and the plants that they had given us.

Long Beach
The family went to Long Beach again this year. We rented a different house that was closer to the beach so there wasn't as much walking time back and forth. It was a cool house with lots of room and tons of games. We won't be going back to that house though as the kitchen was up three huge flights of stairs. But we had a great time and liked being closer to the beach.
We were there during the kite festival again. The wind was not very strong so not many of the really big kites were out. But we did so a lot of the smaller kites.
We had a lot of fun hanging out at the beach when the weather cooperated. We also took a hike to North Head light house. It is not a very long hike, but it is a neat light house to look at. We also went to one of the beaches near by and hung out for a little while. There was a ton of driftwood at this beach including some driftwood structures.
It was a great trip again this year.

Strawberry Festival
Our family had a softball team in the Strawberry Festival Tournament again this year, with some of Wes' friends who played as well. We weren't the best team there, but we won a couple games. And it was fun to get to play together.

Cara M's Suite
Eric and I were so lucky to get invited to go with Cara to a suite at the Mariners game. She won tickets through the MS event that we participated in. So she invited her family and team members from the MS Walk. We had a great time. It is always fun watching a game from a suite.
Robert's Birthday
Eric and I went to Robert's birthday celebration at the Vashon Cemetery. I was nice to see where his headstone was. They did a neat thing in his memory. They had everyone write a message in a balloon. They filled it with helium and then had everyone release them into the air at the same time. We miss you Robert.

Memorial Day
We went to our property for Memorial Day again. Usually we take a hike up Silver falls, but since Sena was 5 months pregnant we decided to take a hike that had less of an incline. So we went up Mad River Road and hiked in that area. It was fun and the kids did great. After the hike we took a quick drive up to the top of the hills in the Mad River Road area to see the sights.

MS Walk - Thanks to Everyone Who Donated!
Had a great time at the MS Walk.
So glad to be able to do a small part to help.
Thank you so much to everyone who donated.
Our team name is the Brebner's Funky Bunch. So we had a number of people dress up in disco outfits. It was a lot of fun. We really lucked out that it did not rain. It was pretty cold, but once we got moving we were fine. Looking forward to it again next year.
Warm it up.
