Pool Removal

As I am sure most have you had already heard, we had been wanting to get rid of our pool for a long time. We just didn't use it enough and it takes a lot of time and money to maintain an 8,000 gallon pool. We hadn't used it in about a year so it has been more like a cesspool. I think there was a family of frogs living in there.

We posted it on Craig's List. None wanted to buy it, so we ended up trading the pool to our neighbor, in exchange for him painting the outside of our house. My brothers come over and help us remove the pool and the surrounding deck.

It is amazing how much space that pool and deck took up. Our back yard looks huge now. We are glad we took off the deck. We found out that there were actually 3 layers of deck that were overlapping each other.

The bottom layer of the deck was actually made using landscaping logs for beams and it was completely rotten. So we removed the entire section by the pool and Eric did some fixing up and to the remaining portion by the sliding door.

Eric also removed the wall that was around the hot tub so that I could see outside my kitchen window. I like it so much better. And now it is a lot lighter in our kitchen.














Then our neighbor Jason came over and painted the outside of the house. It looks pretty good.

We still have a sand box in the back yard underneath where the pool was. We plan on building a retaining wall and then leveling the back yard out. Then we might add a patio and BBQ pit where the pool was. Don't know when that will happen though. But we are making progress.
