Home Run

Tommy was super excited today because he got to hit last. Which mean he got to hit a home run. They bat around all batters ever inning. So the last batter gets to run em all. He hasn't gotten to do it yet so it was pretty exciting :)

Beach Day

Beautiful three day weekend. Third day in a row at the beach. And the boys are loving it. Tommy got to hunt for his crabs and Jake got to play around in the sand.

Memorial Day

We were on the island for Memorial day this year so we decided to go up to the cemetery and pay our respects. And the boys love any reason to wave their flags.

Duck Duck Geoduck

With a super low tide again today we decided to go get some geoducks. We went down to Lisabula. Grandpa Dean hung out in the sandy area with Tom and Jake while me, my mom and Eric went on a hunt for geoducks. It wasn't easy because they were few and far between and hard to spot. But we did manage to get 4 and 1 horse clam before the tide came in. It was pretty tough digging because it was so close to the water line and the suction was horrible. It was very sandy so they went pretty deep. Most of them we had to go all the way in up to our armpits to get. I had to my head all the way into the hole and keep wiggling and shaking at them to release the suction. I ended up having to pull most of them out because Eric's hands were too big and didn't work well in all the suction. One was so deep i had my mom kneel on my feet for leverage to get them out of the suction. And after all that work we got delicious geoduck.

Flower Child

My little flower child. They have been talking about spring and flowers so much as school. So when Tommy saw the little flowers in the grass at the park he picked them and stuck them inside the holes of his crocks.

North End Ferry Dock at Low Tide

Today was a super low tide. So we wanted to go to a beach and check out all the critters. The boys decided on the North End ferry dock. Not exactly the nicest beach but there were lots of critters and the kids had a great time. For sure the weirdest thing there is the geoducks and how huge they are and how far they stick out of the sand because it is not an open beach so they have not been harvested in decades.

Playing at the Park

The boys love going to the park.

Let's Make a Deal

Tommy's coach made him a deal. He told him that if he would stop throwing dirt he would let him be the pitcher. The pitcher gets the most action in T-Ball so Tommy was super excited. He held off on the dirt throwing for a little bit and got to be the pitcher. He was too funny. We had been practicing throwing and I told him to point his glove at the target before throwing so it would be accurate. So he would point his glove for what seemed like forever so he could line up that target and then he would throw it over. At least he was listening :)

T-Ball Fun

Tommy and his team have been practicing and they are getting better. We are still working on getting Tommy to stop throwing dirt and making dirt clouds. And things have started to get a little rowdy in the dugout. But the pace of the game has started picking up a little now that the kids kind of know what their doing.

Mother's Day

Built myself my own Mother's Day gift. A semi fenced in play yard for the boys. One that will be away from a someday construction zone. One that they can hopefully play in while I work in the afternoons to reduce the cabin (trailer) fever. It has been a couple weeks in the works. First I dug up the disgusting pond that had a frog in it. Which no doubt was looking for mosquitoes. Didn't know the pond was at least 3 feet deep till I fell into it up to my waist. Fun times. It took me a long time to get rid of all that stanky water and remove the container. But I got it out. Now you know why our family is building an epic mud room. Then this weekend I began moving plants where the pond was and remover a ton of weeds to clear out a truck and digging area. And today I put up some temporary fencing which hopefully they won't bust down. Lots of work, but hopefully will get the kids more outside time and therefore give me a bit more of a break.

The boys also got me flower, chocolate and hand prints from school. They even attempted to help with some digging :) And then we went over to Tony and Susan's for Sunday dinner.

We have been checking out some new learning shows on Netflix like Sid the Science Kid and Super Why. Tom is totally into it.

My DNA

Just got the results back from my ancestry DNA test. Super cool. Out of 25% possibility of Norwegian from the Hjorten side I got 16%. It even placed me in a DNA community in Norway because of closer potential relatives from a certain region. The rest all come from what could be any mixture of English, German, Croatian which looks to be a lot more blurred lines as far as DNA goes. Cool part is it led me to other distant relatives that have similar DNA. According to the DNA we are relatives to the Hjorten's in Oregon which I wasn't sure about. And they have more info on their family tree back into Norway. So I will have to reach out to them. So much fun.

Little Puppet Show

We got a little finger puppet show from Grannies. The boys had fun trying to figure it out. Though I don't think they quite understood what to do with it. Most of it seemed to revolve around some sort of dance party.

Tommy's First T-Ball Game

Tommy's first T-ball game. He was so excited this morning he was literally rocking the trailer. My favorite so far was when the teams were warming up and I was blowing bubbles for Jake. Both teams abandoned warms ups to chase a big bubble floating across the field. No more big bubbles till the game is over :)

Tommy is getting better a base running. He is not quite sure about defense and what it is all about yet. He spent most of his time tossing dirt around. But he had tons of fun.

Setting Up Some Garden Space

I had some helpers yesterday when I re potted my broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. They also helped me plant some lettuce, carrots and radishes which are growing in a kiddie pool that had a hole in it. I have now potted up hundreds of plants so I will pretty much put a plant anywhere it will fit. I cleared a nice area in the garden where all the plants will get lots of sunshine this year and be easy to water. I feel like I have moved the pots we brought from our old house at least 5 times now. And as I have been clearing the fenced in garden area I have been potting up more. It is like mining for gold. When you look at it you just see weeds and bushes. Start digging and you will find treasures. So I have been digging every inch. I think I am only 1/10 tbe way there. But I have to keep going because half the garden will eventually be bulldozed and I have to clear the half I am clearing so I have somewhere to put the plants. Feels like it will take forever, but I will just keep on trucking...

Lightening Storm

There was a pretty good lightening storm tonight. Tommy was half scared and half amazed.
