M's Game with the Boys

Been trying to get the boys out of the house when we can so they don't have to be in the constant don't touch this, don't touch that, keep the house clean mode. So I got them out to the Mariner's game. They went crazy, ate tons of popcorn, ran around the kids playground a bunch and watched a little bit of baseball. They also got a bobblehead which Tom was excited about. We weren't sitting in the easiest seats for the kids so we didn't stay the whole game, but we got them out of the house and they got to have some fun at the ballpark.

We Have an Offer

After spending a long weekend at my parents house the boys didn't really want to head home. They did get a bit spoiled with going to do so many fun things to make up for the totally horrible month we had. As we were heading back to the house Tuesday night I was so depressed. We had no word about an offer yet. And the thought of living in the house and constantly cleaning and fixing all the things that the boys made a mess of nearly brought me to tears. We ate out for dinner because i didn't want to deal with the hassle of making everything spotless again before work in the morning. The next day I got a call from the realtor. We had two offers and he wanted us to come by his office. What a relief. So we all went down to the real estate office. The boys were totally crazy in there, but the good news was that the offers were good and had bid up the price. One had half the cost in cash so that was the one we went for as both offers were about the same. Let's hope inspection goes well and we can seal this deal. We are ready to spend the summer relaxing on the beach! At least for the time being we don't have to be constantly cleaning and just clean up for inspection and final walk through.

First Trip to the Beach

The boys have been asking lots of questions about why we are moving things out of the house. Where is it going? Why are we taking it there? What are we doing? So we have been telling them about moving over to Vashon. They want to know why. So we told them that we will be closer to the beach. They have only really gone to the beach out at Long Beach. They have never been to one of the beaches on Vashon before. So on one of the moving days we made a little extra time to take them down to Point Robinson and let them play around and see the fun things they will get out of all the hard work of moving. The boys loved it. They threw rocks for a couple hours and didn't want to leave.

Spring Fair

We decided to take the boys out to the Spring Fair at the Washington State Fairgrounds today. We did not have anyone call to come look at the house yesterday but just in case we went to the mall to get dinner and went to see Zootopia. But we got a call as early as 9:00 this morning when I was in the shower. So we figured it was best to just get out of there. And the realtor was having an open house at 1 PM today anyway. We did our last minute sprucing up. Again. Thank you Jessi cat to pick today to start shedding on the carpet. Especially since we just had them cleaned. We fed the boys breakfast literally in the car in the driveway. And while they were eating Eric and I kept finding more things to do. So we drug ourselves out of there before we could nit pick more.

The spring fair is not as large as the Washington State Fair so we just drove there and parked without too much of an issue. And it wasn't as crowded so Eric was a bit happier about that. And for April it was fairly warm and had to by a couple Seahawks hats to keep the sun out of the boys faces. Tom did a few rides. Jake was big enough to do the Carousel and the train this time but that was it. For sure the highlight of the day was Tom got to ride in a Monster Tuck. The wait was a little long, but it was only $7 a person and Tom totally loved it.

Eric and I were pretty exhausted, especially after how hard we have been working, but we knew the boys really needed this. They have had a full month of being ignored, told not to touch anything, putting up with stress, arguing, and extreme boredom. To spare them a whole weekend of more of that and up and leaving the house every time someone called we decided to spend the weekend at my parents house and not head back until Tuesday night. Hopefully by then we will have an offer.

House is Listed

We made it! Our house is listed. When we had a realtor come look at our house on March 12 I thought there was no way we could get this house listed by our goal April 15. I have gone crazy cleaning and packing mode since that day. I have worked to the point my hands are cracking and my body is sore. And last night did not disappoint on the crazy level. Eric had spent the afternoon finishing up some drywall patching that needed to be done in the garage, and then he calked it in places so that I could paint. He didn't finish that till 10 PM. Then he went to the shop to finish cleaning all of his tools and such out of there. A lot of it he ended up putting in his back up truck and putting it at the neighbors to pick it up later. And I began painting the garage. It started well, but when Eric went to bed at midnight I still had quite a ways to go. And since the height was pretty tall in places it was exhausting and took forever. I didn't get to bed till 4 AM. At least it is done. Now we just need to wait for some offers.

Asparagus

Trying to enjoy every last bit of asparagus we can get before we move. The boys are loving it. Even after we move and set up a garden we will have to wait another 3 years before we can pick any asparagus we plant. Boy are we going to miss it.

Picture Day

Picture day. Realtor and photographer came by and said the house looks fabulous. It better because we have been working so hard, barely sleeping, taking so many loads of things over the the property I don't even want to know how much we have spent in ferry fair. I deep cleaned every part of the house and yard. Just a few last things to take care of in the garage and shop. This is all you get to see for now until the big reveal on Friday. I feel like I have done finishing touches so many times. Floors, counters, toys beds that I feel like a maid service and just dread anyone doing anything in the house. Can't wait till this is over

Too Busy to Cook Pizza

House goes on the market in 5 days. We are frantically moving things out, deep cleaning, painting, staging and also trying to keep the kids from destroying the house. Tom already took a black sharpe to white wall and it took 3 coats of primer to cover it up. It is a total mad house, but we are at a point were it is just "Get 'Er Done" time. Fed the kids, put them to bed. Threw in a frozen pizza for Eric and I. Started packing the truck to move more clutter out. I noticed I don't know how long later it was that I still hadn't taken the pizza out. It was roasted. At least it didn't smoke out the house. Eric said he would still eat it...and he did.

Mariner's Opening Day

Baseball season is here again. Went to Opening Day with my mom. Always exciting to see what the possibilities for a new season can be. And of course it is always nice to get back out to the ballpark.

Ferry Boat

We have been doing a lot of traveling back and forth from Auburn to Vashon a lot this month moving things to the property. Trying to get as much clutter out of the house as possible so it will be ready to put on the market. The boys have spent a lot of time in the truck. We have been making quick trips drop things off at the property and then make the next boat back over. Needless to say, the boys are a bit sick of sitting in the truck. To keep them sane I have been letting them go up on the ferry and run around. I used to take Tom up on the ferry when we would commute over on Monday's, but after Jake came along it was too hard for me to keep up with Tom while holding Jake. So it had been quite a while since we had gone up on the ferry. Now that Jake can keep up they had a lot of fun checking out the water, the island, the boats, the cars, and all the other things that kids like to see. I was not super happy when the opened the stall door in the bathroom and ran out while I was sitting on the toilet though. But the boys had fun and it looks like we will likely be letting them go up on the ferry a lot more often.
