Fishing Derby
We took the boys and Lena to the fishing derby again this year. We went in with pretty low expectations as we did not catch a fish last year. Tommy was very interested in learning how to cast. So I had him do some practicing without a hook. It was very tough to get him to listen to all the steps but he eventually got the hang of it. The whistle blew and it was time to start fishing. I tried helping the boys watch the bobber and try to catch one. But attention span was not their things. We had a couple bites, but by the time we figured it out they had taken the bait and ran. Jake lost interest and started throwing sticks. Tom didn't want to leave his bobber sitting in the water, he just wanted to try and cast. And Lena somehow kept casting into the trees. So we did not catch any fish during the derby. No one seemed to upset, except Eric of course. He couldn't handle not catching anything. So he brought out his own pull with a spinner on it. He caught 8 fish. He let the kids reel them in so they did sort of get to fish.

Bonfire Ritual
Mom gets home late and the boys have been playing outside and having their routine bonfire ritual. Looks like some dancing and chanting may have been going on :)
Alison Haukaas WWU Softball Hall of Fame Ceremony
20 years ago today I was in Oklahoma playing in the National Championship tournament with an amazing team of ladies on the WWU Fastpitch team. We were the last seat in the tournament and shocked everyone when we won the National Championship. I am so honored to have played with these ladies and will cherish the memories on and off the field forever. Today I went up to Bellingham to cheer on the third member of my team to be inducted into the Western Washington University Hall of Fame. I am so happy for you Alison Richards. It was a great day. We got to see the renovated Carver Gym and the new Hall of Fame room with the plaques in it. And just had a great day reliving the glory days.
T-Ball & Picture Day
The boys had t-ball and picture day today. I was in Bellingham so Eric took the boys. They seemed to have stood still long enough to get pictures. And Eric said that Tom hit the ball super hard to where he hit the kid playing pitcher. The kid was fine thankfully.

Lot's of Fish
Eric took Jake to the pond a the Sportsman's Club to watch all the fish being loaded into the pond. It was a lot of fish. And they seemed to be pretty excited to be out of there and jumping around. All ready for the fishing derby.

Mother's Day
It was a beautiful sunny Mother's Day. We went to watch Lena play lacrose. The whole family including Grandpa Ted made it out to watch her play.
And then we headed to Pt. Robinson to enjoy the weather.
And it was too nice a day to stay inside so we spent the rest of the day in the back yard.

Caspar Babypants
Caspar Babypants did a show at Chautauqua. I had a softball game so I couldn't go. But Eric took the boys. As always they had a great time at his show. I asked them what their favorite was and they both said Pretty Crabby.

Mariners Little League Day
I took the boys yesterday to the Mariner's Little League Day. They represented Vashon T-Ball in the parade and then enjoyed all their Mariner's favorites. And at the end everyone was super exhausted.

Pouring Concrete
The boys helped dad pour some concrete this morning to hold their swing set in place. They are little workers in training.
Third T-Ball Game
I think these T-Ballers are starting to get the hang of it. Most of the kids ran to the correct base at the correct time. There were some pretty good hits. And they even made some good attempts on defense. Jake still thinks he is the team jokester and has spent most of the game trying to get attention. At least he is keeping himself busy, as long as he keeps staying out of the way of the other players. He did have a minor encounter with a dirt cloud, but he didn't seem to mind.

Second T-Ball Game
Tuesday's T-ball Game was pretty eventful. Lots of big hits and some pretty aggressive defense. There were quite a few pig piles with kids all trying to get the ball at once. It was hilarious, until there was a pig pile between Tom and Jake that I eventually just had to go out there and break it up. Everyone was having a good time though and at least they were watching the ball and into the game.
