We had a pretty low key Halloween. We carved the last couple pumpkins that were still ripening in our garden, lit our pumpkins up, put the finishing touches on our decorations and got our candy bowl ready. We took the boys out right after dinner to maybe 5 houses. Tom had been watching some cartoons that talked about trick or treating so he was pretty excited about it. Getting everyone dressed was challenging because they were so excited. And it was raining so we had to get boots, umbrellas, flashlights. And I bought a big pack of glow sticks to hand out to trick or treaters so the boys got to pick out a few. We spent more time getting ready than we did trick or treating. But Tom had a blast. Jake just chilled in the stroller. Eric and and Tom went to a few more houses while Jake and I went back to hand out candy to the few trick or treaters that we had. Our battery operated sound censored stuff really got some people this year. It was pretty funny to hear. Jake loved playing with his glow sticks and all the commotion at the door. The boys really liked all the fun stuff we did for Halloween and were sad when it was over.

School Spirit Week
The boys had school spirit week for Halloween. Tom wore spider socks for crazy sock day. Then on crazy hair day I colored the boys hair. Tom was super excited about the spray cans. But when he heard the noise he was a little scared. Then when he looked in the mirror that it was making his hair colors he kept wanting more and all different colors. For Jake I did a quick Mohawk. That was about as much as he would put up with. Tom was so funny, we washed his hair out that night and the next morning he wanted to know if he was getting his hair colored again like it was a new daily ritual. Then they had pajama day which was fun for everyone. And on Friday they wore their costumes and brought treats for a party. They had a lot of fun.
Another Day in the Playroom
Kids having fun in their playroom. We are so lucky to have such a great play space. Sorry Eric the man space had to go but it is worth it because they love it. And they are so lucky to have so many great toys from friends, neighbors and of course from Grandma. Some days Tom says he doesn't even want to go to school because he just wants to go down and play in his toy room.

Halloween Train
We got to do the Halloween Train again this year. Tom was so focused on all that was going on with the train. I don't think any of the other kids were so interested in the train and everything it was driving by. Jake was not as interested in the actual train, but it was about his nap time so he did fine. We went down to the falls and back and after the ride we went to the front of the train and watched it start up and take off on the next trip. The train whistle went off, the steam fired up and the boys loved it.

Pumpkin Patch
We ran down the hill to the pumpkin patch right by our house. The boys love putting on the their rubber boots, getting dirty and running around a pumpkin patch. They like sitting on the old tractor, playing in the hay bales, running around in the mud and touching the pumpkins. We didn't stay long but I think the boys would probably go to a pumpkin patch every day if they could.
Pumpkin Carving
Tom helped out a little more with pumpkin carving this year. He was really interested in the pumpkins and he wasn't exactly sure what to do with them other than just look at them. But I cut a hole out for the top and had him try scooping out the guts and the seed. It was pretty funny. He did not want to get his hands dirty at all. So I ended up having to do most of the scooping. Then I let him pick what he put on the pumpkin. For the first one I gave him a pen and told him to draw some kind of face. He needed some help drawing so I helped him hold the pen and asked what shapes he wanted to make the eyes nose and mouth. Then I used the little pumpkin cutter to cut them out. He helped hold on to it a little but I think he got a little bored. He said he wanted to make a frowning face. So I had him make a frowning face in his picture. Then we did one of the sticker faces that we got from the Blossey's pumpkin patch. He really liked his cat. And he made a cat face for his picture too. Then I let him look around in the box of stencils for some pictures that he wanted to put on his other pumpkins. He picked Lightning McQueen, Batman, Superman, Thomas Train, and bats. And we did a Mickey Mouse, Elmo and the Count for Jake. Tom helped a little with putting in the pins into the picture to trace it, but them lost interest until it was time to light it up. He was super excited about the lit up pumpkins.

Legos
Jake has had a lot of interest in Legos right now. And because Jake is interested in them now Tom is paying more attention to them as well. They are mostly playing well together. Although Jake does like to play Godzilla so that is challenging.

School Pictures
School pictures arrived. I wasn't there this time because Jake now is in school so they just take care of it. So they forgot to take pictures of them separate. But we did end up with one pretty good one. I am impressed they got them sitting so close to each other so nicely. Usually there is just rough housing at home when they get that close.

Director's Cut
We have been getting bored watching the same shows all the time so we were looking through the On Demand free movies. We found Milo and Otis which is a older movie about a dog and a cat that go on an adventure and meet a lot of different animals and do funny stuff. Tom loved it! He loved it so much he pretty much narrated the entire movie. I call it his Director's Cut. It is too funny.

Preparing for Halloween
Today Tom and I did some work on the house preparing for Halloween. Well it was mostly me and Tom watched and did a little help. he put a few of the lights out and he did pick our little pumpkins out of the garden and put them in front of the house. He was so excited about the lights. It was funny though. Even though Tom saw me pull all of the decorations out of the boxes and put them in place, when it got dark out he was a little bit scared but not too bad. But Jake was super excited about all the flashing lights. I guess that is just the difference in age.
Pumpkin Picking
We went out in our yard and picked all the pumpkins and gourds that we had out there.

Row, row, row your boat
We got home from the pumpkin patch to find out that our power was out. Nothing like no electricity will bring you family closer together. Sitting around doing nothing we discovered that Jake knows how to sing row, row, row your boat and do arm motions to row the boat. His teachers had said he like the song, but we didn't know that he sang it. Very cute.
Creek House Farms
We went to the Blossey's pumpkin patch today at Creek House Farms. It was raining like crazy at points. But we didn't mind because that meant there were less people there and the family had time to spend with us. They boys had a blast. The hay ride was a favorite. But the best for them was the animals. The goats were great. Jake kept talking to them. The bunnies were cute and the boys loved them. But the pigs were the star. Papa Al threw them a pumpkin and it was like a football game. One pig ran around with the pumpkin in his mouth and the other two chased him. It was hilarious. Tom didn't want to stop watching. What a great place.

Daddy's Home
We were playing down in the play room today and the boys saw Daddy out the window. They get so excited when Daddy comes home from work.

Little Poo Poo
We have been trying very hard to get Tom to poo poo in the potty. It is very frustrating because he mostly goes pee in the potty. We will sit him on the potty and he will got off and then go in his underwear 15 minutes later. Today he did a tiny little poo in the potty. I don't even think that he realized he did it till he looked in the potty. He was so excited. Of course he did the rest in his underwear. But at least he was really excited about it.

Hello Kitty
For a couple years now our cats have mostly been hiding out when the kids are around. Jimmy still wants nothing to do with them. But all of a sudden Jessi started getting closer and closer. So close that I told her she was asking for trouble. So the kids started approaching her. I think she is looking for attention because she does love it. And she finally decided it was worth the risk. The kids love it, and she puts up with the screaming and occasional tail pulling.
Barn Fun
Got outside today and Jake got to explore the barn a little bit. Tom too after he made us look for spiders :)

Boys in the Bath
Jake is getting a little better at sitting still in the bath so that I don't have to pay so close attention. And Tom has finally allowed Jake to take a bath with him without splashing him or hitting him with toys. Now they are started playing together a little and making bath time together easier.
