Tom is 10 Months Old Today!
This month Tom had his first Christmas. He helped to celebrate Grandma Clarice's 90th Birthday. And also made his first trip to the property for New Year's.
This has been a month of frustration, bumps and bruises, and finally pure joy. Tom has been pretty frustrated because he has been so close to learning new skills and becoming a little more independent and not having to wait for Mom or Dad to help him out. Finally this month Tom learned to crawl and walk all in 2 days. He is still working on both of them, but he is so excited about learning these new skills. He has also learned how to pull himself up. This is cool because soon I won't have to help him up to walk. But it also presents it's challenges. I now find him standing up in the crib in the middle of the night playing around with his new skill. I guess eventually he will get bored of it and not be up at night trying it out.
We have Tom's play area mostly set-up now. Thank goodness because he is getting into anything within reach. He will sometimes play quietly by himself in there with his toys while I get stuff done. Then he let's us know he wants someone to play with. It is nice to have more room for him to more around. I have the video monitor set-up in there so I can keep an eye on him while I am making dinner and stuff.
Tom's two top teeth have made it most of the way in now. He started eating chicken, turkey, fish and beef this month. He did kind of slow down on new foods for a little while because we all had a cough and he was having a little trouble swallowing chunky food. But now he is back on track and trying new things and more finger foods.
Tom finally figured out how to say Da Da after trying so hard. I don't think he quite knows who is Ma Ma and who is Da Da yet though. He gets the mixed up. But for some reason he always screams Ma Ma if he wakes up in the middle of the night. I don't think that is quite fair.
He has also become a lot more interactive with his toys. I think since he has more space and can move around to look at them all he is enjoying them a lot more. One the games we like to play is set-up the blocks into a tower and wait till Tom makes them come crashing down.
Now that Tom is mobile, one of his favorite things to do is play chase the
kitty. I am surprised how long Jimmy is puts up with it before he runs
away.
I am sure that Tom is going to be keeping us on our toes this month and probably for a while to come.
