Hottest Day Ever

Broke a heat record today. It was somewhere around 107. We tried to stay inside as long as possible. Then we couldn't take it anymore and had to take a drive so we could sit in the AC in our car for a while. We drove to my parents house to drop off some stuff for they boys stay there while we are in Alaska. They had their pool out already so the boys took a quick dip in the pool. We went home and it was sooooo hot. We were supposed to be packing but I could barely even stay in the house. We sat in the shade in the yard because there was nothin else we could do. Then someone invited us to the pool. So we went for about a half an hour before they had to close down. And then we slept on the trampoline again. Next morning we woke up to a nice cool crisp morning. I am sure it won't last for long. But I woke up when Eric was headed to work so I could start packing.

Trying to Stay Cool

 We tried to stay in the house as long as possible to stay out of the heat. Then it because hotter inside than outside. So we sat in the tiniest corner of the shade waiting for the sun to go down more. Last night we stayed on the trampoline till 10:30 and then tried to sleep in the house. That didn't go well for anyone. Tonight by 10:30 (dark) the boys are asleep on the trampoline. I have the cover on the top to keep the bugs out. So this is what we are going to try tonight. Still 88° out.

Still haven't found an AC to replace our broken one. It is still 88° out. But that feels better than our house. Chillin on the trampoline till it cools off.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Did we time warp to August? How is it 90° out. It feels like summer started at the end of April this year instead of the beginning of July. Our window AC unit did not survive storage this winter and it is 82° in the house right now. Eric decided to try and fix it instead of buying one last week. Now they are sold out. So it is time for Slip N Slide.

Father's Day

I asked Eric what he wanted for father's day. He said to stay home and work around the house. So we spent about a day and a half cleaning the house while he did dad things around the yard. But we did take a break this afternoon to have a BBQ with my parents. I think Jake approved grandpa's chicken.

Last Day of School

Last day of school! What a crazy year. We have put so much hard work into school in the last year. We are all pretty exhausted. Goodbye 1st and 3rd grade. Here comes 2nd and 4th grade.

Last Day of Baseball

Last day of the boys baseball for the year. Jake's last game got rained out on Sunday. He was a little bummed his season ended that way. But he had a lot of fun this year. Tommy had his last game today. They ended it with a win! Tommy is now obsessed with baseball.

Field Day

Last year the boys missed out on field day and were pretty bummed about it. This year they got to do field day. It was a little different, and a bit difficult to get them there as they had each boy on two different days and the other one was supposed to be in class on the computer at the same time. But they had a great time. Jake was a little unlucky that he got the rainy day. But he didn't care. Tommy wore Eric's old track jersey.

Jake's Birthday Continues

We continued more of the birthday fun for Jake tonight. One of his birthday requests was gravy. So we Grandpa Dean made his a roast. So we had that and gravy. He was pretty happy about it. They we play some video games to continue the fun.

Jake's 7th Birthday

Happy birthday to Jake. He is 7 years old today. We had another busy baseball day so we didn't do much celebrating today. We will celebrate this weekend. What a goofball he is. I think he puts on most of his clothing backward most of the time and says he likes it that way. He loves to talk. He rarely stops talking. He is one of a kind.

Jake's Sixth Game

Well, Tom got the windy game. Jake got the rainy game. It rained the whole game, but the kids still seemed to have fun. Jake got another hit and did field a grounder but wasn't really sure where to throw it. He also magically managed to take the field 3 times with no glove.

Game Night

Power has been out for several hours. Doesn't look like it will be back on till the morning. So board games it is. And Eric was upset that I put up a picture he didn't think he looked good in. So I made him look cooler. He asked for it.

Tommy's Seventh Game

It was a super windy day for a game. It was not super eventful. Tommy did get one hit. He also had to make a quick exit from the outfield after he told his coach he had rocks in his cup from sliding into the base :) They ended up with a tie which they were all pretty excited about.

Jake's Fifth Game

Jake had his fifth game. He got a pretty good hit. But the highlight of the game was when he put his glove on the wrong hand again. He managed to make the defensive play. Then he went to make the throw and almost threw his glove.

Tommy's Sixth Game

Tommy had his sixth game tonight. I had to leave early because I also had a game. My mom took some pictures. Good thing because Tommy had his first little league home run. In other words he hit it in the grass, they threw the ball around and he ended up scoring. He was so pumped.
