We took the boys to Mat Classic XXXIV. We saw some good wrestling. The boys cheered on Colin, their Rockbuster volunteer coach and a few other Vashon wrestlers. And we cheered on Hugh Wheeler too. Then we rode the light rail downtown and took the boys to the arcade.

We had some surprise snow start coming down last night. It wasn't a ton of snow. But enough to sled on. And school called for a late start. So the boys had some time to go play in it before it started melting. It was Valentine's day so I am sure it was a pretty exciting and unproductive day at school.

On Saturday we had a celebration of life for Eric's mom Bobbie. Eric wanted to arrange this himself. He would only let me help with the pictures. He held a wonderful send off for his mom. It was nice to see Eric's family and visit with them.

The Bingham's did their last wrestling tournament for the year. And it was a pretty great day. Both of the boys had a bye, and then had a challenging loss to start off. But then they rallied and both got a win in the next round. Tommy lost his next one and was done. He is in a tough weight class of kids who know a lot of moves he has not seen yet. But he is getting a lot of experience. Jake shocked everyone, when after his first overtime win, he went on to have a second overtime win, and another close win on points. And he seemed to improve and get more confident as the day went on. He made it to the third and fourth place match which was against his teammate Finn. He was really hoping to beat Finn. He has not done so in the many times he has faced him this year. But he lost on points. Jake took fourth and Finn took third. This was such a huge day for Jake. He has a hard time taking sports seriously up till this year. He spent the last several years cracking jokes instead of trying his hardest. Last year Jake did not win a single match. He has been working hard at practice this year and it is starting to pay off. He is learning the moves. We are so proud of your hard work Jake. They boys are going to keep practicing to help support their teammates who are going to do state. They are really excited about the improvements they made this year and are excited for more.

We went to White River to watch Lena wrestle in sub-regionals. She did really great. She pinned two to make it into the finals. Then she went up against an undefeated senior and was tech pinned but did get some reversal points on her. She is learning new moves and was very proud of her single leg in her first match. We were glad to get to see her wrestle.

Most of our wrestling team is now done for the season. There is a smaller group still practicing to do one more tournament and then on to State for those that want to do it. We are not going to do state as the boys are not quite there yet. But we are going to keep practicing and we are going to do the one other tournament. That way we can keep getting better and our teammates will have someone to wrestle in practice. Our practice has been moved to right after the high school practice. So the boys have seen Lena and Tony wrestling around at the end of practice. Today they decided to take her on. Well, more of a pig pile.

Exciting news for the Bingham's today. We hit average grades for midterms, and on some scores even better. And yes I am serious average is great over here. Tommy has been is an assisted class where they don't even grade you. He hasn't been graded in most subjects since first grade. We have been working really hard since he was a year and a half behind in some subjects when they last graded him. He is back in general ed this year. We were really nervous to get his grades. And he is right where he is supposed to be at midterms. Average. He has worked so hard to get caught up after spending his first couple years refusing to try. His hard work has really paid off. Now he just needs to keep up the hard work. He was very proud of himself.
