First Smores

We stayed at home for Memorial Day weekend this year. We usually go to our property, but since I was so pregnant that was not an option. And we had a lot of stuff to do around the house. We got a lot of the vegetable starts into the . We also wanted to do something fun even though we were staying at the house. So we made a little camp fire and Tom got to have his first smores. It was a little tough keeping an eye on him around the fire, but he really enjoyed the smores. Big surprise there.

Mother's Day

On the Saturday before Mother's Day Tom, Lena, Tony, Eric and I went to the Mariners game. It was a really good day to go. We ended up getting free parking. We went to the parking garage because I couldn't walk far. We were ready to pay the $25 parking when someone tapped on our window and said would you like a free parking pass. That was so nice of that person. Then we went into the stadium and the kids got their full side wood bats for kids bat night. Lena was very excited.  And when we walked in we saw the Mariners Moose signing bats. So the kids went and got their bats signed. Tom also got to give the Moose a high-five. The kids played in the play area for a while at the beginning of the game. Then they had a fun time (minus a couple meltdowns) eating popcorn, holding up the sign to try and get on the big screen, dancing with the music, clapping with the crowd and yelling for the two home runs. So glad they had a great time.

Mother's Day morning I got a beautiful dozen red roses with two white ones in it for each boy. I also got this hilarious card. Thanks boys!

Tom has been talking about baseball a lot lately. When I watch the Mariners he grabs his glove and wants to play catch. I also found him trying to make a bat out of something and trying to hit a ball somehow. So, I know you are not supposed to get presents for your kids on Mother's Day. But I was in the store that morning and I decided to buy him a T-Ball set because he was excited about the game the night before. I was at a funeral for my friend and teammate Sonya for most of the day, but when I came home it was so nice out we went out it the back yard. I asked if they tried the T-Ball set yet. Eric said Tom let him help him twice and then said I do it all by myself. He didn't want any more help and somehow already knew what he was doing. He also knew that you were supposed to run after you hit it. So Eric made up some bases and he loved it. I was so shocked that he had figured so much of it out on his own. I also taught him "Safe!" for when he crossed the plate.

I also got a wonderful arts and craft project on Monday at day care that Tom made. It was late because he is AM only and they hadn't finished them up yet. His daycare is always so thoughtful.

Special Sip

When Tom was little we had a baby bullet blender. We used it so much to make baby food that it started to smoke and we had to throw it in the trash. So I convinced Eric to buy me the expensive blender at Costco. I totally love it. Now that Tom is done with baby food we still use it to make smoothies. We call it our special sip. Tom loves it. I make some all fruit ones, but usually I make a spinach, cucumber, pineapple and orange juice smoothy. Tom gets so excited when I tell him I am making his special sip.

Mickey Mouse

Now that Tom has been doing morning day care for a while we have kind of settled into a routine. He goes to day care by 7:30. I go back to the house and work until I pick him up at noon right after he has lunch. I bring him home and he goes down for his nap and I go back to work. When Tom wakes up from his nap he gets to watch cartoons until I finish up my work day. He likes to watch Sesame Street, Peppa Pig, and the Baby Channel. But after a lot of reruns we branched out a little and found the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. It is Tom's new favorite show. The show has a few sayings that it uses all the time and Tom loves to repeat them. Such as "Oh Toodles!"

Daddy & Me Flower Pot

We went to Home Depot to pick up a few things and there was another Daddy & Me project. Tom enjoyed it as always. I bought a little cheap plant for him to put in there.

Playing in the Pool

Weather in '80 in May! So I set up the kiddie pool. Tom was a little hesitant to get in it, but he really liked playing with his watering can and splashing around. Eventually he put his feet in and splashed around. But he wouldn't sit down. One step at a time I guess.
