Jake played on the VBA team this year. He mostly just played in double headers. He only played in one tournament. He won't be playing again next year, so today was his last day. And he went out with a bang. He had two home runs and a double. I didn't get to see it, but I am told he had a great day.

Happy Bees
It is amazing how many bees are hanging out in my herb garden this year. There are so many buried in this little patch of thyme. When I go to water it I feel bad because they all begin to scatter.

Tommy VBA Baseball Season
Tommy had a busy season playing with VBA this year. He played in quite a few tournaments. Too many to recount. He wrapped up the season today with a second place tournament finish. He only had one at bat today and got a solid line drive hit in that at bat.
Jake Riding Again
Today, Jake got on a bike again. This is the first time in 2 years. His bike accident kept him off a bike for a long time. He wasn't really doing anything super crazy on it. But he finally got back on the bike.

Ironworkers Service Award Banquet
Eric was honored at the Ironworkers Service Awards for being a member of the union for 25 years or more. He went and hung out with some old buddies. I dropped him off while Tommy was playing baseball. And then we picked him up on our way home. Seems like he had a good time.

Water Taxi, Pike Place & Mariners
No win for the Mariners. But we had a nice day taking the water taxi and checking out the waterfront and the pike place market on our way to the game.

Strawberry Festival
It was a busy and exhausting Strawberry Festival this year. On Friday we went uptown. This the first day Tommy had his debt card that he could use. He did some umpiring this spring and received a check. We needed to cash that check, so we opened him a student bank account. I walked him through the process, encouraged him to be cautious with what he purchased and not to lose it. I think he enjoyed his new found freedom of spending his own money. And he didn't lose that card. So that was good. We also went to Ober Park to watch the reptile man. He was fun to see again. This was the only day Tommy got to go to festival as he had a baseball tournament scheduled.
On Saturday, Jake and I walked in the parade with the Vashon Youth Baseball & Softball group. We handed out wiffle balls, and gave out high fives. I think he had a fun time walking in the parade for the first time ever. He was worried he wouldn't get to see the parade, but we stopped at the end of the line and watched everyone else go past, and collected candy. After that we played some wiffle ball in the park with all the kids. I also went to the speed pitch booth to help raise funds for VYBS.
On Sunday we watched the car parade. And then I went back to the speed pitch booth and worked for most of the day. Jake and Eric spent the day running around town. And somewhere in there, I managed to play in two softball games in the festival tournament. I was pretty beat by the end of the weekend.

Visiting Jake's Campout
Jake went on a campout with Lucas and a bunch of other people to the Maury Island Marine Park. Tommy and I offered to bring them all of our kayaks. So we loaded up the 6 kayaks and took them down to the gold beach pool. And Tommy and I made two little boat trains and kayaked them to the marine park. It wasn't too far of paddle. We have certainly gone further. And we got a ride back in the speed boat. Tommy even got to do some tubing.

Fourth of July
We had a great Fourth of July. We went to the hydros and watched a close race. Then we went to Jim and Lynn's to hang out for a while at the beach. And we finished up the night an Engels watching the fireworks.

Mariners Game with Lucas
We got tickets to the game for today. We brought Jake's friend Lucas with us. I got tickets for the front row of right field to see if we could get a Cal home run. We didn't get a home run. But we did get to stand by the bullpen and get a wave from Cal before the start of the game. The boys had a great time.
