I got see Wes play a couple baseball games this year. When you work 9-5 and the team always plays games at 4:00 and plays all over the area, it is tough to catch a game. But he had a couple of Saturday games this year and Eric and I got to seem him play. Wes is only a sophomore, but he got a lot of playing time this year. He mostly played at third base, but we did get to see him pitch a game. He did really well for not pitching a whole lot of games this year. We also got to see the Pirates one game playoff to get into the playoffs. It was a great game. Wes got a great hit and almost had the game winning RBI in the bottom of the 7th except there was a running error by one of his teammates. But the Pirates did go on to win it in the 8th. With that win they made it into the playoffs, but didn't make it to state. But they had a pretty good season. Wes is now playing summer ball with a team out of Tacoma.

Crazy Cat
We have known for a while that Bella is a good hunter. She has caught a number of moles and mice. And she likes to sit in the window and make funny noises at the birds. But I was very surprised when I found her on the porch with a little bunny. If you don't know the whole story you would probably say that it was kind of sad that she caught a bunny, but there are rabbits all over our neighborhood. One of the reasons we got Blue right after moving to our house was because we wanted him to chase the rabbits away from my vegetable garden. They like to eat the new growth. The first year I grew my vegetable garden here they ate all of my peas. Only problem is that Blue is not a very good hunter. He is a great dog, but I see the rabbits before he does and he doesn't even see them till I run towards them and they are already running out of the yard. So although I was surprised when I saw that Bella had caught a little bunny, I wasn't exactly sad about it. I have only had a few of my plants get eaten this year so she must be doing a good job.

First Pitch
On Monday I got to catch the first pitch at the Mariner's game. It was really fun. My friend Julie works for BECU. They had a drawing for all the employees and she won. She gave the opportunity to throw out the first pitch to her husband Jeff. The raffle included passes for three other people to go on the field.
So Julie, Jeff, Julie's sister Mandy and I all went down on the field on Monday before the game to wait for Jeff to throw out the first pitch. We watched the Royals hit batting practice for a while and just hung out down there. Then one of the coordinators told Jeff that he would not get to throw to a Mariner. She gave him the option of throwing to a ball girl, or throwing to one of us in his group. So they elected me to catch the ball. I asked them for a glove and the dug up some little kids glove from the back somewhere. So I was pretty nervous about trying to catch a ball with it. Here is the video from the first pitch.
All went well. Jeff threw it a little high, but somehow I caught it with that crappy glove. The best part was that he did a cartwheel afterwards. He said he was going to do one, but I didn't think he had the guts to follow through with it. But he did.
After the pitch we got to watch the National Anthem. Then they took some pictures with the Moose and with a M's player. We got stuck with Norton, who is pretty much a nobody. But we did get up close to one really cool player. Jay Buhner was sitting in Row three behind home plate so we walked by him a couple of times. I tried to get a picture through the net but it came out blurry.
They put us in great seats 20 rows up from the M's dugout. It wasn't a great game, but we had lots of fun. It was once in a lifetime chance. Thanks Julie for winning the raffle and inviting me to come with you.
