Friday night he hung out with Grandma so Eric and I could have our first night out together since he had been born. I must say I was a cheap date because I was feeling pretty good after one drink.
I had not spent a lot of time up at the festival over the last couple years as I was playing in the softball tournament. Since I was not playing softball yet this year as I am still pretty out of shape we decided to spend some time uptown. So we went to the parade and saw Wes drive the fire truck. Tom was very excited. He was jumping up and down the entire parade, which made it pretty tiring for me.
Then we walked around and said hi to people we hadn't seen in a long time. We also went down to the ball park to see a game and say hi to people. It was kind of sad not playing, but I know I would probably just have hurt myself. We also went up to the street dance for a little while until Tom passed out.
We also went to the car show on Sunday and the went and say Rochelle play some tunes. Tom loved it and jumped around some more and wore himself out for the weekend (and us too).
In addition to still eating a lot, Tom has also become a lot more active. He loves, loves, loves the Johnny Jump Up. He will even do the Johnny Jump Up when there is no Johnny Jump Up. I call it the human Johnny Jump Up. Feel the burn. At least I know my arms are getting a work out.
He is even sort of starting to get more comfortable in his entertainment center. He does lot of playing around with his toys on his play mat. While on his back he can roll to his side, but he doesn't quite roll all the way over. But a couple times now when we have put him on his stomach he has rolled to his back. He has also become pretty talkative.
Tom is still teething. And I think he might be ready to try solid food soon. We will see what the doc says when we go next week. He has really started to get a personality. So far as I can tell he is a very active little boy. Someone actually asked me if I was drinking Red Bull before feeding him. Here is a video of his absolute favorite thing to do right now.
It is a card that I got for my birthday. When he heard it he seemed very interested. Now he totally loves it. It will be a sad day when the batteries run out. I guess we will just have to go out and find a new card.
Afterwards we went home and watched the people in our neighborhood spend lots of money with all the fireworks they blew up. Tony, Susan and Lena came and watched the fun.
Even though it was really loud in the neighborhood, magically somehow Tom went to sleep around 9:00 PM so I could enjoy the fireworks for a little while.
We had tickets for the 4th of July Mariners Game and decided that we
would take Tom for his first game. Of course taking him anywhere is
always a new adventure. So we packed up his stroller with everything we
could think of and headed to the game. They will check a stroller for
you at Safeco Field, but since it was not crowded that day and I knew
there would be a place to put the stroller at our seats, we decided to
keep it with us. It worked great.
The Mariners lost, but I don't think we saw much of the game. We spent
most of the time trying to keep him out of the blazing hot sun. Oh well. We went to guest services and got his certificate for his first game. I made him a sign for his first Mariners game, and he even made it on the big screen.
We were practically the last people out of the stadium other than the workers.
We hung around to take more pictures and hang out with Dave for a while.
It was a fun adventure. The first of what I am sure will be many more games.
