Memorial Day at Coyote Falls

We went out to our property in Entiat for the weekend. We haven't gone in such a long time. Especially during the summer time. The boys slept in a tent for the first time, other than our backyard. We had lots of smores and saw lots of pretty sights. I took the boys on their first hike up Silver Falls. I wasn't sure that they would make it all the way to the top, but they made it. They totally loved it and were amazed by the waterfall and the amazing view of the mountains from the top. It is nice that the boys are old enough to be able to get out and do the camping thing now.

Tommy's Fifth Game

Tommy had his fifth game today. Recently in the back yard he kept bunting when I was throwing him pitches. I think it was after he saw it on the Mariners. I kept telling him that he couldn't bunt but he wouldn't listen. Well, today he did it in the game. They are not even allowed to bunt in his league. I guess he will learn eventually. So no hit for Tommy today. But he did walk once and got slide into home. His favorite.

Little Chef

Jake had been asking to do some baking. He likes coming up with his own creations. He really wanted to use avocados because he also had a science project using avocado pits. So Eric helped Jake create his vision of an avocado sandwich. It was basically a BLTA. He thought he was pretty cool and it was also delicious.

Mariners Game with Grandma & Grandpa

All the adults in our family have now been fully vaccinated. We had been hoping to have the full family together on Mother's Day but that didn't work out. We are having a little delayed Mother's Day celebration with my Mom at the ballpark. And they are giving all kinds of discounts to vaccinated fans too! Free T-shirts, 20% off all concessions. The boys were very excited to get to spend more than just a few minutes with Grandma and Grandpa. They can't wait to get to go over their house and hang out. Me too :)

Kayaking to KVI

Mom and dad wanted to go kayaking. The boys wanted to go to the beach. So we put the kayaks in the water at Portage and kayaked over to KVI. The way there was a little slow as it was into the wind. But it was super fast on the way back. And the boys had fun stopping at the beach to play for a little while.

Jake's Fourth Game

Jake did great hitting today. Not sure if it was 3 or 4 hits. I was doing dugout duty so I missed a few at bats. He also played a little infield today. He has not seen much infield. He did have an awesome play. All with his glove on the wrong hand. And then wasn't quite sure how to throw it :)

Tommy's Fourth Game

Tommy's played a close game tonight. They lost by 2. Tommy did not get much action in the field today. He did play catcher for an inning. He did go 2-2. And his favorite, he got to run the bases and score both times. There was no one in front of him so he got to fly around to home.

Mother's Day

We had been hoping to all get together as a family for Mother's Day since we had all been vaccinated. Wes had to work. Then my mom woke up not feeling well. So we had to change plans and went to Tony and Susan's house. Sad to not all be together but we still had a good time. The kids played laser tag around the yard while we sat on the porch and finished off a couple bottles of champagne to celebrate.

Jake's Third Game

Jake had a few more hits today. He was very excited that his team was hitting so well that he got to run around all the bases and score a run. He also got to try out catching. He thought he was pretty cool. He didn't really do much. He was sort of like a statue back there. But he thought it was fun.

Tommy's Third Game

Tommy had his third game today. He hit the ball twice today. Got thrown out at first one time. And then second one was a hit. He was all over the place on the field today. Third base, second base, first base and catcher. At practice on Tuesday he said he wanted to try pitching. He had no idea what he was doing, just trying to look like a pro. So we had to really break it down to tell him where he had to stand, come set and all of that. I guess he tried it some more at practice on Thursday. I had no idea that they would pitch him in a game, but one of our pitchers was not there. So he pitched an inning. He did throw a couple strikes, but walked quite a few. He still has a lot to learn. He is having a lot of fun trying though.

Jake's Second Game

Jake had his second game today. He got a couple more hits. I missed part of the game as Tommy was practicing at a different field and I had to go pick him up. Busy, busy baseball season.

Mariners Game with the Boys

The boys and I headed back to the ballpark for another game. I was able to get some pretty great seats for this game. Front row on the third base line. It's awesome to sit next to the ball boy and he gives you a ball. Tommy got one and you could see him get it on TV. And then later in the game Jake got one too. Perfect day for a game.

Tommy's Second Game

Tommy had his second game today. He did some third base and first base today. His team actually made two outs and he got to be at first for one of them. He also did some more catching today. He thinks he is pro already. He was giving signals back there. Really he needs a lot of practice, but he was having fun. He got another hit today and did make contact with a second one but got thrown out. He is loving baseball. He saw the pros on TV were wearing a chain. He asked me, "Why do they have that on?" I said, "Just to look cool, but it is kind of ridiculous as it bounces around and hits them in the face as they run." His response was "Yeah, but it does look cool." So I am sure that will be the next pro thing he is going to try out :)
