Home School Day 66

Day 66
We had a pretty easy going day today. We did a quick lesson in the morning. Then we headed out to plant some more vegetables. Since we can't go out my mom brought us some tomatoes and butternut squash. So we put them in bigger pots. It was like a Bingham assembly line. Dad cleaned out the pots. Tommy carried them over. Jake filled the pots with dirt. And mom planted the plants. We were done in no time. Let's hope the deer stay out.

Then Tommy and I made some chocolate chip cookies. He had fun helping me out. It was a good activity to keep him quiet. He is still having some chest pain I believe in his lungs. And some pain in his side when he goes potty. I believe it is in his kidneys or intestines. So we are trying to keep him pretty calm. Hopefully we will hear back from the doctor on Monday and they can do something more for him.

This afternoon I had the boys sit in the hammock and watch a movie we me and Eric were working on a surprise. The boys asked what we were doing. I told them that we were building a shed. They just said OK and zoned out on their movie. So Eric and I got to work. About the time their movie was ending they looked over and asked, is that really a shed. It looks like a trampoline. I said no, it was just a shed for really short people and this mat was the roof. At that point it became more difficult to put together because they weren't buying it and were pretty excited. When the net went up we tried to sell it as wind power energy source for the shed for short people. They really weren't buying that. But it was a funny joke to keep them busy thinking while we finished. Finally we were done. I jumped on it and told them I was jumping on the short people's heads. They said no way, let me on. So I let them on. I told them that told them that it was sort of birthday presents for them both as Tommy did not get a party and Jake won't either as it is coming up soon. And also it was for all the school work they have been doing. Jake has been doing all of his assignments and is reading pretty well at this point. He read all the books his teacher sent already. And Tommy is reading books now a lot higher than the level he was testing at in school. Today he just finished 100 books since the end of March. We are super proud of the work he has been accomplishing. I knew Tommy had it in him. He just needs motivation to keep going and to understand that he really can accomplish these things if he tries.

Home School Day 65

Day 65
Spent most of the day trying to keep Tommy from doing too much activity. He is having chest pains still when over exerting himself. And side pain still when going potty. So I had him sit down and do school work. Which was mostly stuff from the specialists. So it was a fairly quiet was day. Then we watched movies and some more lego star wars. He was still pretty restless. It is really tough with Tommy. When you tell him he can't do something so says, oh yes I can and tries to do it twice as much.

Home School Day 64

Day 64
Today everyone felt a little better except Tom. He still has pain in his side near his kidneys or intestines when he goes potty and pain in his lungs when he overexerts himself. It is very difficult to keep him still. He is such an active boy. I really hope that he starts improving soon.

People keep arguing over social media about the best ways to proceed with this virus. I wish we had a better leader who didn't leave doubt in people's minds on the best path.

Home School Day 63

Day 63
Today I still had a sore throat and a little bit of coughing. Jake seemed fine all day. Tom still had some pain in his side while going to the bathroom. And this afternoon while running in the yard he had a pain in his chest. I sent him right inside. The boys were tested for COVID-19 today. We all got a mask at the doctors office. The boys said they felt like Darth Vader wearing them. But they did keep them on when seeing the doctor. There was a whole procedure that we went through just to get in. Stop at the security gate. Get a mask. Park in the lot while distanced from the other vehicles. Pull up to the next stop to wait. Then drive in a tent. Since the doctor wanted to check their breathing we got out. But most people stayed in their car. We had to have what seemed like an excessive amount of hand sanitizer put on before we got in the next tent. He checked their breathing, felt Tommy's abdomen, then put a que tip up both their noses. And then we got back in our car and left. The boys had said they were a little nervous going into it. But they did fine. Test results will come back in 3-5 days.

We also received our Thriftway grocery delivery today. We didn't get everything on our list exactly, but it was close. The did ask if we wanted the staff to just substitute if something was out or to call. I choose to just substitute. So they most be out of stuff.  have not gone to the store in at least 63 days, so I have no idea what the shelves look like. I am glad we didn't have to go into the store and worry about risking other people's health in case we are infected.

Home School Day 62

Day 62
Tom and Jake were feeling good today. I had to keep reminding Tommy to slow down. His side still hurt a little including when he goes to the bathroom. I had chills today even though it was saying 75 on the thermometer in the house. And I didn't have much energy today.

It is freaking me out a bit that they are talking on the news about more children having been discovered to have serious complications from COVID-19. Even scarier is that sometimes the complications are not occurring until 6 weeks after contracting the virus. They talk about inflammation of the organs being one of the effects and abdominal pain being one of the symptoms. So I am watching Tommy very closely.
